The ferry ride from the "main" land to Vashon Island lasts 20 minutes. During that time, you are transported from the city to a peaceful rural setting. On the island, it's possible to feel as though you are on vacation everyday!

Vashon Island is located in the beautiful Puget Sound. The island is approximately 14 miles long by 7 at the widest point (48 sq miles). The scenery is a mixture of farms, forests, and beaches. The 2010 census, reveals a population of 10,624 many of whom commute off-island to work. Their routes are surrounded by nature from tall firs and soaring eagles to the occasional visiting orca pods and lots of water.

People on our island are generally friendly, helpful, and easy going. There is a strong sense of community and a slower pace of life. Our schools, which are highly rated in the state of Washington, produce students with high self-esteem and worldly goals. The arts are revered.
